Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to rezone East New York, the Cromwell-Jerome area in the Bronx, West Flushing, Long Island City, among others. Changing the zoning code for the land in these neighborhoods will allow developers to build larger/higher buildings that will accommodate new affordable housing units as part of the Mayor’s housing plan.
