City Approves SI Redevelopment Plans as Union, BFC Partners Reach Deal on Construction of $220 Million St. George Waterfront Project 

The New York City Council voted to approve the Staten Island St. George waterfront redevelopment project today after three labor unions and BFC Partners, the developer of the Empire Outlets Mall and hotel, finalized agreements that cover all construction, hotel, maintenance and security jobs.






Staten Island Wins When You Vote Yes

We are pleased that the developer of Empire Outlets has committed to move forward with this $220 million project in a manner that has the support of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, SEIU 32BJ and the New York Hotel and Motel Trades Council.

Fight For Good Jobs, Responsible Development On Staten Island Waterfront Unfolds At City Hall Hearing

Scores of Build Up NYC members and a growing coalition advocating for responsible development and good jobs today called on members of the New York City Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises to vote “No” on the application by BFC Partners for its Empire Outlets redevelopment plan on Staten Island if the developer does not commit to providing good jobs with real career paths for local residents, support for local businesses, and making traffic and infrastructure improvements.
